The short version

Some links to hosting providers on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may receive a commission. You pay exactly the same price — in several cases you get a signup credit that is not available otherwise.

What is never affected

Health scores, rankings and comparisons are computed by a script from public repository data. No software project pays to appear, to rank higher, or to be included. There is no mechanism by which they could: the ordering on every page is generated at build time from the score, and the score has no input a third party can influence.

We do not take payment from software projects at all — only from hosting providers, and only for signups that come from links clearly marked as sponsored.

Which links are affiliate links

No affiliate programmes are active on this site at the moment. If that changes, this page lists every partner before any link goes live, and each sponsored link is marked in the page source with rel="sponsored".

Why we say so

Because the US Federal Trade Commission requires it, because the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive requires it, and because a directory whose ordering you cannot trust is worth nothing. The scoring method is published in full on the methodology page so you can check the ranking yourself.
