OSSN ranks #22 of 40 in Communication - Social Networks and Forums, placing it mid-table for maintenance activity.
What OSSN actually does
OSSN is a self-hosted social networking engine built in PHP. It provides the core functionality needed to run a dedicated community website where registered users can interact and share interests.
Best fit: It is well-suited if you want to deploy a private or public interest-based community forum on your own infrastructure.
Worth knowing: The CAL-1.0 licence places specific restrictions on commercial use and distribution, so you should review its terms carefully before adopting it for business projects.
Deployment notes
As a PHP application, it typically requires a standard LAMP or LEMP stack with a relational database and persistent storage for user uploads.
