What Sylius actually does
Sylius is an open-source, full-stack e-commerce platform built on the Symfony framework. It provides developers with a modular foundation to construct custom online stores and marketplace applications using PHP.
Best fit: It is a solid option for development teams with strong PHP and Symfony expertise who need to build heavily tailored, bespoke e-commerce platforms rather than using rigid standard software.
Worth knowing: Because it is a developer-centric framework rather than a turnkey solution out-of-the-box, setup and long-term maintenance require significant custom coding and continuous dependency management.
Deployment notes
You will typically need a standard PHP application server setup alongside a relational database like MySQL or PostgreSQL, with a reverse proxy handling TLS termination.
